Banyue is a Fire Rupture agent from the Krampus Compliance Authority faction.

Role & Mechanics

Banyue is a on-field damage dealer, whose gameplay revolves around accumulating unique resource "Wrathful Fires" and executing certain input for various combos.

Meta Relevance

Banyue is useful against enemies with high DEF, such as Miasma Priest or Wandering Hunter. Other than that, other Fire DPS would see better usage rate due to their gameplay difficulty difference.

Pros & Cons

Banyue has great damage output while capable of parrying attacks, but most of his damage requires you to execute certain combos, with some having tighter timing than others. As such he is known to be quite skill reliant.

Build

Banyue should be built with 4pc Yunkui Tales plus 2pc Blade and Branch Song (Crit DMG) OR 2pc Woodpecker Electro (Crit R.), focusing on Crit, Fire and HP main stats until around 50~60%+ Crit R. and ~150%+ Crit DMG. His best W-Engine is Wrathful Vajra (5★), with Qingming Birdcage (5★), Grill O'Wisp (4★), or Puzzle Sphere (4★) as substitutes. After leveling up his Core skill, prioritize his Special Attack and Chain Attack, followed by Basic Attack. Banyue's M1 is recommended for RES shred, Sheer DMG boost and extending Stun duration. The rest of his mindscapes maily contributes to his damage rather than his QoL.

Pull Priority

A recommended pull if you like a challenging playstyle. He is incredibly fun to play when you know how to execute your combos right.

Banyue is actually fun to play, the only caveat being skill combos must be executed precisely at the right timing for his maximum damage output. This makes him somewhat undesirable among casual players who may not have that skill level to begin with. Manato, who is also a Fire Rupture unit, may have fared better due to his simpler playstyle aside from his HP drain mechanic.

Whether you are F2P or meta-driven, if you like a more challenging playstyle, Banyue will be the unit you should look for.
