Yao Guang is a supportive unit in Honkai: Star Rail. Build her with Diviner set and Lushaka set for buffing utilities. Equip her with When She Decided to See lightcone to help with her rotation.
Yao Guang is a Physical Elation character in Honkai: Star Rail. She is a core support unit for Elation archetype. Elation DMG has a whole new DMG multiplier that can only be influenced by a unit's Elation stat, which so far only Yao Guang is capable of influencing. Aside from the typical RES PEN, SP gain and vulnerability infliction utilities, she can also gain extra Punchline and provide Aha Instant an extra turn, which both are tied to Elation's overall mechanics.

Role & Mechanics
Yao Guang is a Core Support made for Elation teams. She can buff Elation, RES PEN, inflict vulnerability, gain extra SP and Punchline, as well as an extra turn of Aha Instant. A major portion of her kit is clearly made to synergize with the newly implemented Elation mechanisms, which makes her an important unit in Elation team setups.
Meta Relevance
As Elation is introduced in 4.0, the coming endgame content will also start to accomodate said archetype. Given so far only Yao Guang can boost the team's Elation, she will be a constant presenting member in endgame lineups.
Pros & Cons
Yao Guang provides potent buffs that cater to Elation teams, but that also means she is a niche support specific to this particular archetype, limiting her team options.
Build
Yao Guang should be built with either 4-piece Diviner of Distant Reach set or 4-piece Messenger Traversing Hackerspace set, with Planar sets consisting of either Lushaka, the Sunken Seas or Sprightly Vonwacq. Focus on SPD and ERR stats, preferably having around 160+ SPD. Her best lightcone is When She Decided to See (5★), with Mushy Shroomy's Adventures (4★), Today's Good Luck (4★), or Sneering (3★) as substitutes. Her Skill and Ultimate should be your talent priorities. Her recommended early eidolon is E1, as it increases Punchline taken from Aha's extra turn, as well as provide DEF shred for teammates.
